Are you up for a challenge? Digital cleanse

http://jhnmyr.tumblr.com/post/308807536/the-one-week-digital-cleanse

I'm in. This is going to be so hard. Let me know if you are participating Id love to hear how your experience is.

Isn't technology great then end of a decade

Ten years ago we didn't have the iPod or iPhone. Cell phones only made calls. I am typing this on my iPod touch something that was infathomable ten years ago! What a difference a decade makes.

In fact this time ten years ago little did I know but in about a month I'd find out I was pregnant. That changed so much of my life. This last ten years have been great. I only hope the next ten hold great blessings.

I know the next ten years of k's life are going to be alot different than these first ten. It makes me sad to think by the end of the next decade she will be all grown up.

I hope the next ten years hold great blessing for you and your family as well!

Ps I received an award. I will post it next week when I have time to sit down at my computer when the hubs and k are at work and school

Happy New Year!

I hope Everyone Had a blessed Christmas.

I have a few minutes so I decided to blog. It seems like forever since I've been able to blog! Last week was super busy and this week the hubby is off all week, so we will be trying to do stuff.

I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas.

Our Christmas was awesome.. K got everything she wanted and then some!! She even go her zhu zhu hamsters from my parents. I'll have to admit even though I boycotted them, they are pretty darn cute!

I got an Ipod touch and a Kendle and a few other things. I am so addicted to my ipod touch and all the apps. The hubby has had an iphone for a while now, so he doesn't really get excited over this stuff anymore.. I LOVE It.. and my Kendle is great! I love that I can take my books everywhere with me!!

Did you get something for Christmas that just stood out?

UGGG I am about to throw this computer.. ever since I downloaded Window's 7 the curser goes all over the place!!! I can not find anywhere to fix the sensitivity on the mouse pad either!!! UGGGG

I hope to read some blogs now.. It's been a while, with all the excitement and my parents being in town and all.

What do you eat on Christmas Eve?

What do you eat on Christmas Eve. Christmas is full of cooking and a big meal. You don't want leftovers. Do you go out, order pizza, make sammies?

I'm not sure what we are doing. I think we will have soup. Something light. I've been eating mostly raw veggies today (trying to "clean" everything out). Tomorrow is more raw veggies for me, but the family needs MORE lol.

I am just curious what everyone does. I need ideas :)

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone. Sorry I haven't blogged much lately. DH is off work so we've spent time together while K was a school. She's out now.

I won't have time to blog much this week or read many. I am going to miss everyone!

It did snow here. I'll post pictures after the holidays when I have time. If you want to see some, you can go to my twitter. I put some on twitpic.

ALso K will be using my computer a lot to play her math games. Since she got a 'C' on her progress report, I'm going to let her.

I'm off to have a quick breakfast and workout. I'm waiting on the Fedex overnight guy. So I need to get my butt in gear.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed holiday. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

my hair experiment..

I posted about a week about about washing my hair daily (a few times daily) and how my hair dresser said that's not good for my hair. A lot of you said you only wash every other day. I tried to only go to every other day. MAN was that hard. It is getting easier though. I do have to put some baby powder on my hair the 2nd day so it doesn't look like an oily mop. I did notice it seemed to look better when I styled it the 2nd day. I like that alot.

Here are some pictures of my hair experiment. I think I'll keep to every other day.

This is day 1. Freshly washed and styled.

Day 2, didn't get washed, but had to use baby powder to absorb some of the oil. I think I can do this!

REAL winter coats... and being frugal

Happy Friday!

I never thought I would be so excited about getting a coat. Since I've always lived in the south a leather jacket or a pea coat always sufficed. Here it's COLD! So after spin class today, I went straight to the store (the BX here on the base). I bought myself and K new REAL winter coats. They were 50% off LUCKY ME. I was buying them anyway but the fact that they were half off was even better. I also needed a hat and gloves. The kind of gloves that you can build a snowman with, that won't soak through.

Women's gloves are so expensive. I found some I liked then I went to look for K's size. She has an old pair of mine that she wears so she doesn't really need any. I tried them on in the kids department. BINGO this is where it really pays off to be small. I bought kids ski gloves for $4.99! They are black with pink details. If you know me you know that is perfect for me! I also a few days ago needed a belt. So I went to the kids dept. that is where I have gotten mine before. I was just seeing if I could fit one. They are at least 50% cheaper than women's belts. Even though I've gained weight, I got a Large and it fits great! I even have room to spare.

Although I would LOVE to have long legs and be so much more taller. I would love a longer torso! It is times like this that I am thankful I am a short/small person! I saved so much money on the gloves and belt!

This is me in my new coat..cozy! and my kids gloves! lol... Excuse how I look I did just come from spin class!!!

snow?

They are saying we may get 4-6 inches of snow this weekend! I am so excited. Having lived in the South the majority of my 31 years. I have not seen much snow!

I am going tomorrow and get snow clothes, hats, gloves ect. To make a snowman and snow Angel's with K..

I'm sure I'll get my hopes up and we will just get rain and ice :(

OHHH I'm hoping for snow!!!

Ok that is all.

I am a mess and emotional mess...

I get so weepy. I get that familiar burn in my nose and eyes and throat. You know the one when something touches you and you are starting to tear up and if you give in then a FLOOD of tears and boohoo's follow.

I have been this way as long as I can remember. I am a very emotional person. I cry at movies (the reason I won't see Precious in theaters, I cry on the commercials!). I cry at the touching Christmas commercials, even. Yes I am that person. I cry to music more than I want to remember. At least once a day I will get choked up if I am listening to music. Country music is bad because it can be so sad. I listen to KLOVE an inspirational Christian channel most of the time. One reason is that I know nothing will be said or done that I don't want K hearing. Another reason is I enjoy the music. Some of the stories and songs touch me and make me cry. Case and point, this morning, I was coming home from dropping K off at school. The Transcyberian Orchestra (spelling ?) came on. I adore them and love orchestra music in general, but add that with Christmas music.. MAGIC... I cried a little... touching.

I'm not depressed. I am just an emotional person. If I'm mad I cry. The madder I get the more I'm prone to cry.

I don't know why I am like this. I would LOVE to get my tear ducts removed or take a pill so I can be more like everyone else. I can't even tell you how many times I've teared up at church and all my friends sitting me are dry eyed. How can they not get teary eyed, I wonder WAY TOO MUCH!

Maybe they are good a holding in their emotions, unlike me.

I am just an emotional mess.

Can laundry determine your priority?

While doing laundry today, I had a thought.

Everything started out normal. Put a load in the washer, dryer, fold, put-away REPEAT!

I fold the laundry and put it in piles by person. Shirts for K, shirts for me, shirts for hubby, pants for K, pants for me, pants for hubby and so-on-and-so-forth. I usually put K's clothes away first (unless she is here then she has to do it herself.) Then I put mine away, then I put hubby's up. I don't put his away, I either put it in a basket for him to put away or on top of his dresser. He is particular about his t-shirts some are hung up some are folded (the way he likes) and put away. I figured since I'm not doing his shirts for him, why put away his socks, boxers, pants ect. So he puts it away, and doesn't complain, but doesn't do it in a timely manner either. *sigh*

The last load I put away I put mine away first. It felt weird. As I walked past K's room to go to mine with my freshly washed warm, nicely folded clothes, I thought I never put my stuff away first.

That made me think. Is the way I put laundry away the way I set my priorities in the house or my life? Do I really put K first, me second and hubby last? He has said this before but I didn't think much of it, I thought he was being selfish. hmmm I am guilty of putting K before him. I know this isn't right or the way it should be done. I have to make it a conscience thought to not do that. I think as mom's we naturally put our kids first because we know our hubby's are grown and can take care of themselves.

However, this got me thinking. When I put meals on the table, I put k's first, then hubby's, then mine. Maybe that is how my priorities really are? Maybe I put his laundry up last because I am not actually putting it away, just up?

It's most likely the last one.

Either way it's something to think about.

My lost order showed up today.

YAY. I'm so glad my order from Overstock.com came today and didn't get lost again! Now I can get them ready and wrapped and in the mail to Florida tomorrow or Thursday!

YAY

My least welcome aunt visiting....

Ugg AuntFlow..... I have noticed as I get older it seems to get worse. The cramps, moodiness, and sleepiness. I am not on the pill and she always seems to come as a surprise. Don't get me wrong we are not trying to get pregnant, that is not the reason for the lack of birth control. The fact that I am forgetful is the lack of birth control. I am awful about taking pills. I don't even take anything for headaches or pains unless it is unbearable or I have to go somewhere. The other types of birth control don't work for me.. I hate shots, I'm not getting ANYTHING implanted in me, I tried the patch and it made me so sick. So we use nothing, if we get pregnant fine if not fine..

That being said, I don't keep track of Aunt Flow. She just swings by, hopefully at night or when I'm at home!

My first day everything is bad, including cramps and headaches..uggg... needless to say even though it's going to be in the 60's today. I will not be going for my run :(

That's my luck. Aunt Flow's timing is NEVER good!

Also I have to call overstock.com today to get my money back for yet the 2nd shipment that didn't come. Not the best day to do that either. But since it was Christmas presents I need to get my money back so I can go to a store and get these items and get them in the mail to Florida.

SPEAKING of mail.. I have so much stuff to mail. I will be using fedex for my parents and the in-laws, they are very fragile and one it so huge the post office doesn't have a box to fit it! lol

Happy Tuesday my bloggy friends :)

My 12 week program has began...how did I do on day 1? And Have you ever used Overstock.com? I'm angry!

I did GREAT!
They always say writing down what you eat will keep you on track. The fitbook I got not only has a place for you to write what you ate but you check off the fruits/veggies/grains/protein/ect to make sure you get what you need! I actually found myself planning my food around that!

For today
my workout:
60 min Spin Class
20 min free weights 10 and 5 pds-arms, shoulders and back.

I would have done a sculpt class and yoga class, but the sculpt class was full and I didn't want to wait for the yoga class :(

Food:
Breakfast
Steel cut oatmeal with splenda brown sugar and cinnamon
hard boiled egg

Lunch:
Chili (I was cold and wanted something warm so I made a pot of chili- I used 1 can kidney beans, 1 can diced tomatoes, 1 pack of soy crumbles, cumin and chili powder)
2 celery stalks
4 thick slices of cucumber

Snack:
10 cherries
hard boiled egg
10 almonds
and a pear.. (I was hungry!)

Dinner: still pretty hungry..
2 chili turkey dogs (with the chili from lunch and low calorie whole wheat bread 50 cal a slice)and a few onions on top
green beans

snack/dessert
1 square of chocolate.

and I am still under my calories for the day.. only by about 30 or so but still!!!

I am not hungry anymore either.. dinner hit the spot.

Tomorrow I am going to add a snack after my workout and before lunch..I hope that will make the afternoon hunger not so bad..

On another note.. I ordered some stuff from Overstock.com they said delivered and I never got it, the post office didn't have it.. so I contacted them and they said they would send a replacement. I got a message saying the replacement shipped. I've tracked and again says delivered and yep you guessed it... I don't have it.. ugggg these are christmas presents. I am calling them to get my money back I am sick of this and will never use them again! Has this happened to anyone else who used them?

Do you wash your hair daily?

I have been researching this after my hair dresser told me it's not good for your hair to wash it daily. Even if it's oily like mine. This is the first I've heard of this. I am finding out that most people don't wash their hair daily. This strikes me as odd. I have always washed my hair daily sometimes 2 or 3 times... I have noticed now with colder weather that I am dandruffy and my scalp itches at times.. (mostly when I'm thinking about it.. go figure)

I also workout, hence the twice or 3 times a day... shower in the morning-wash hair, workout-wash hair, shower at night-wash hair. Yes I am a very clean person.. most days I shower in the morning and at night. I have recently started only washing in the mornings, after my workout.

I have decided I am going to go to every other day. After my workout on days I am not washing, I will just wet down to get the sweaty stink out (I hope).

Any and all input welcome!

Thanks.
`Angela

ps. My new Fitbook came in. I'm pretty excited. Starting monday I am on a 12 week program to loose 20-24 pounds. I will be done right before my birthday!!! What a great present!!!! I plan to go shopping for new clothes for my birthday !!!!

14 days! and I have to do what?!

WOW I just realized that the Friday after next is Christmas! That means:
Next week is the last full week of school
Next week I need to get everything in the mail.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE school pictures come back!!!!!
Next week I need to make sure I have all the groceries I need for Christmas Eve food and Christmas dinner ( baking stuff is good to go!)
Next week I need to get the dogs hair groomed.
Next week I need to buy stocking stuffers.
Next Thursday progress reports come home. That will determine if K has a good break or a bad break. She was grounded for most of the Thanksgiving break for back talking. I hope Christmas break is much better!

I need to ramp up my workouts for all the goodies I'm going to be eating.

I need to get an Angel from the Angel tree and purchase and drop off gifts...but we first need to decide if we are doing the Angel tree, toys-for-tots or Samaratin's Purse Operation Christmas Child. Since we are on a limited income we can't do all 3 but maybe 2 of the above. I need to do something, we are blessed with what we have and I need to give back. I am sad there a less fortunate people. Some kids won't get anything at all.

I remember one year. I was 6 or 7, I still believed in Santa. My aunt was a single mom and didn't have a job, and could not afford to get ANYTHING for my younger cousins. My mom sat me down and told me that since they just moved Santa wouldn't know where they were. It would be really sad for my cousins to not get anything for Christmas so she told me she got me the thing I most coveted (a rub-a-dub dog) but that we needed to give it to my cousin. I was sad because I really wanted it. I did not however go without that Christmas, but I never got that dog. I never missed it really. We also gave my cousins 2 of my cabbage patch dolls my parents bought for me and I'm sure some other things but I don't remember.

I can not tell you what I got for Christmas that year. But I can tell you what I sacrificed for someone I loved. I really think that is the first year I realized what Christmas and the feeling of giving was about. I wasn't allowed to tell my cousins what we did, and you know what?! To this day I haven't!

Please if it's in your power. Please give something to someone less fortunate. It may make a huge difference to them. As well as canned and non-perishable foods.

Have a blessed weekend.

Give this Christmas Away

K and I opened a door like usual on the Klove's advent calendar little did we know it would change the way we are currently looking at Christmas.

Honestly if we gave away EVERY SINGLE present under our tree, it would not effect us at all. We are fine without the things that are nicely wrapped under the tree. We are not in NEED of anything. Those things are all indulgences, stuff we want. OK with the exception on the panties I bought for K...lol

However, there are kids out there that are over joyed just to receive a tiny stuffed animal or a slinky or a book. This video really put things into perspective for us.

We were thinking about adopting an angel from the Angel Tree, but now we are definitely going too. This video shows clips from Operation Christmas Child. This is the first year in over 10 years that we aren't putting at least 2 shoe boxes together. Our old church where we used to live did this every year. I think I will go online and find a drop point, I hope it's not too late.

What a powerful message. Even a 9 year old was willing to give up her gifts! She looked at me and said "we really do have to many things under the tree" WOW!

5 things about me:

1. I was in the Air Force active duty for 4 years and have been in the Reserves for 10 years.

Time out for Theta Mom Thursday

Time out for Theta Mom Thursday, is hosted by Theta Mom the goal is to take one hour a week to yourself. Do something only you want to do. Time to recharge and relax.

This week has been a crazy week. Taking care of a sick child, cleaning errands ect. I didn't even have time to workout this week, except for Monday. I did a short workout on Monday.

My time out for ME, is going to be today. I am going to get my hair done. It is long overdue. I haven't had it cut or highlighted since July! 5 months is way to long to let your hair go, when you have a layered type of cut and highlights.

ps. I'm posting this early because after I get my hair done, I have a busy day yet again. K is back in school today so I have a ton to catch up on. I may not be able to post later today. Is it Christmas break yet? :)

Happy Theta Mom Thursday.

Advent Calendar, the real story of Saint Nicholas

K and I have been looking behind a new door everyday. We really enjoy doing this and it really keeps us grounded during this time of shopping, giving and stress.
click here to go to the Advent Calendar

This will take you to today's story. The real story of Saint Nicholas. If you want go back and look at the doors leading to today. Some are long, some are short. Yesterdays was a very cute joke.

Have a great evening.

Busy Monday

I posted last week about wanting to loose weight and being frustrated that I gained a few pounds over Thanksgiving. Don't we all usually though. Now that Thanksgiving is over, we will be cooking basically the same stuff for Christmas. K and I have already started baking. Yesterday we made Christmas cookies.

I am proud to say I am back to my "pre-thanksgiving" weight. I have been running. I run 5 to 5.5 miles 3 times a week. That is my goal. I did it last week. Today it was too cold to run outside so I did my treadmill. I loath the treadmill and could only make myself do 2.5 miles in 30 min.. that is half my workout. I usually go for at least an hour. I guess I need to do something tomorrow (one of my normal non-workout days). And make myself run in the cold on Wednesday!

I did go grocery shopping today. I loath grocery shopping so I have it down to only have to go get the bulk of the stuff once a month. Stuff like meat, frozen veggies, bread, dry goods and stuff like that. Today was the big day. I usually have to go back at least one time during the month to get perishable stuff, like milk, eggs, veggies and fruits. We have a big freezer so I can buy stuff that can be frozen and keep in there until we need it. Since I am known to forget to thaw stuff out until it's too late. I also have started taking 3 packs of meat out on Sunday's. That usually gets us through the week.

Since it was my big grocery trip. I also go some stuff I would need for our Christmas dinner, all of our baking needs and of course meat, veggies ect. I spent $442. WOW it sounds like a lot but if you break it down that is only $110 a week and $15 a day. Not bad, considering I got 2 packages of ribeyes with my meat. I didn't get and fish because the fish counter wasn't open yet, but I will have to go back for perishables as I said before that will be no more than $100, probably not even that since I stocked up on cheese too. I also had to get dog food.

This is my first chance to sit down and collect my thoughts today. I did have about an hour this morning, but I used that time reading y'alls blogs and drinking my coffee. This has been a busy Monday.

Happy Monday everyone
~Angela

A Christmas Meme

I was just reading some of the Blogs I subscribe too. My normal morning routine.
One of the ones I read is of mice and ramen .

I thought this looked fun so I decided to do it.

1. HAVE YOU STARTED YOUR CHRISTMAS SHOPPING?
yes I have and I am finished! I may pick up some stocking stuffers or other small stuff. I also need to take the dog to the pet store to pick something out. But mostly yes I am done!

2. TELL ME ABOUT ONE OF YOUR SPECIAL TRADITIONS.
We put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving, while listening to Burl Ives and the fun Christmas songs like "I want a hippopotomus for Christmas" and stuff like that. We also open up one present on Christmas Eve, it's new pajama's. We have done this since I was younger and I still do it. This way you know you have good looking PJ's in all of your pictures and videos LOL.. AND we also read Twas the night before Christmas on Christmas Eve ( I think I can recite the whole book). New one this year, we are doing the Klove advent calendar and a few years ago we started reading the Christmas story out of the bible.

3. WHEN DO YOU PUT UP YOUR TREE?
The day after Thanksgiving

4. 4. ARE YOU A BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPER?
No, I have do that a few times only in my life. I do not like crowds.

5. DO YOU TRAVEL AT CHRISTMAS OR STAY HOME?
Mostly we stay home, but last year we went to Florida to spend it with my family.

6. WHAT IS YOUR FUNNIEST CHRISTMAS MEMORY?
hmm. It was about 5 years ago. On Christmas Eve I was watching Oprah, and Beyonce was on there. She was showing everyone how to do the "Beyone bounce". A few days before that I hurt my back at work. Apparently it was too soon to do the Beyonce bounce. I could barely move Christmas day. I couldn't even pick up my daughter who was only 2 or 3 at the time. So I'd have to say it's the year I threw my back out doing the Beyonce Bounce. ha!

7. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MUSIC OF ALL TIME?
Burl Ives and Bing Crosby

8. DO YOU DO YOUR OWN CHRISTMAS BAKING?
yes I do, In fact K and I baked Christmas cookies yesterday.

9. FAKE OR REAL TREE?
fake for the last couple of years, but real up until then. I like being able to put it up the day after Thanksgiving, like my mom used to do and I love that it's pre-lit...

10. WHAT DAY (AS A MOM) DOES THE ACTUAL PANIC SET IN TO GET IT ALL DONE?
I don't panic. I know she will be happy with whatever she gets. This year she doesn't believe in Santa so I don't have to panic about getting Zhu Zhu pets and I'm glad too because they just came out with warnings on them.

11. ARE YOU STILL WRAPPING PRESENTS ON CHRISTMAS EVE?
No, the stuff that is left on Christmas Eve usually don't get wrapped, they may get set-up.

12. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FAMILY FUN TIME AT CHRISTMAS?
any time I get with my family at Christmas is my favorite time.

13. WHAT CHRISTMAS CRAFT DO YOU LIKE BEST?
We don't do many Christmas crafts, but we do usually make an ornament every year.

14. CHRISTMAS MUSIC? YES OR NO. IF YES, WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG?
Yes and my favorite of all time is "Mary did you know." I get choked up when I hear it!

15. WHEN DO YOU PLAN TO FINISH ALL YOUR SHOPPING?
I am pretty much done.

If you read this consider yourself tagged. So repost and have fun!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

What did you do with my daughter, and can you stay?!

This was a typical morning. My alarm goes off, I lay in bed, dozing in and out of sleep for around 10 min. I do set my alarm 10 minutes early so I can do this, that's just me, I need that time. I finally roll out of bed. Go use the restroom and splash water on my face. Since I didn't hear the music yet, I thought I was up early, (we live on an Air Force base and they play reveille at 6 am on work days) so I plug in the Christmas tree. I find my slippers I left in the living room last night. I never leave them laying around but for some reason I did last night. Then I decide to go get K up and take the dog out. I fully expect to be met with "awww I don't want to get up yet." or "I'm so tired." or "Mamma don't turn the light one ahhhhhhh." You know the usual stuff you brace yourself for when waking a kid for school.
Low and behold, I go in her room and her light is on and she is getting dressed! WHAT?!? I was speechless. I told her how proud of her I was. She heard the music, that is her alarm, and she got up! She was putting on pants that were 2 sizes to small for her (note to self go through her clothes and get rid of stuff) but she was getting dressed! I got her a pair of jeans out of the dryer and took the dog out to potty.
Since this is Friday, I also had to take the garbage and recycling cans to the curb. By the time I do that and the dog does her business, I come back in and K is in the Kitchen getting her cereal! When did she turn 25?! Yesterday she was 9 and crying because she didn't want to wear her new glasses to school because, 'they aren't her style anymore' and she 'can't stand to even look at herself in the mirror.' Typical pre-teen drama queen stuff. She loves her glasses now that everyone at school complimented her.
I was so proud of her this morning! Where did my daughter go and can this one stay?!

Have a great Friday and wonderful blessed weekend!

was it the cookies?

I am going to start by saying how much I hate double standards. Men can gain weight and be ok with it. I HATE THEM FOR THAT... ok hate is a strong word but #&(@$&*(##*@(#U@(IP~!

I'm not sure if I gained weight or am bloated. I'm leaning on the gaining weight. I am so frustrated. It's been a total of 10-15 pounds over the last couple of years. I am not happy with myself for that reason. I think since Thanksgiving I've gained about 2 pounds. GRRRR.... I am in some kind of mental block I can NOT get the scale under 133 or 134. I can range anywhere in a given day (depending on what time it is) from 133-137. I'm not sure why such a huge fluctuation. But whatever! I am ONLY 5ft1in. SHORT.. My ideal weight is 110-115. I am personally fine with 120.

I know I've been eating a TON of desserts lately... THAT has to stop. DH is gone for work again he left this morning and will be back on Friday. I want to lose that weight I gained this past week by the time he gets back.

And another thing. I really hate how media portrays women. We are supposed to be size 0 and tiny. Some of us will never see that. Some of us are proportioned (have boobs and booty naturally).. I have been cursed with HUGE boobs... my butt isn't the smallest either.. but when I lose weight it will vanish mostly. My boobs however will not go below a "D" cup... *SIGH* My upper back has been giving me problems. But I refuse to get a reduction. God made me the way I am for a reason. With wide hips and big boobs you think I'd be able to pop babies out like rabbits. NOPE we have 1 kid, and tried for another and it didn't happen... Guess just because you look like you can "breed" doesn't mean you can. LOL.

OK I've got my frustration out for the day..

HERE's to loosing 1-2 pds by Friday and 20 overall in the next 4-6 months!
