This was a typical morning. My alarm goes off, I lay in bed, dozing in and out of sleep for around 10 min. I do set my alarm 10 minutes early so I can do this, that's just me, I need that time. I finally roll out of bed. Go use the restroom and splash water on my face. Since I didn't hear the music yet, I thought I was up early, (we live on an Air Force base and they play reveille at 6 am on work days) so I plug in the Christmas tree. I find my slippers I left in the living room last night. I never leave them laying around but for some reason I did last night. Then I decide to go get K up and take the dog out. I fully expect to be met with "awww I don't want to get up yet." or "I'm so tired." or "Mamma don't turn the light one ahhhhhhh." You know the usual stuff you brace yourself for when waking a kid for school.
Low and behold, I go in her room and her light is on and she is getting dressed! WHAT?!? I was speechless. I told her how proud of her I was. She heard the music, that is her alarm, and she got up! She was putting on pants that were 2 sizes to small for her (note to self go through her clothes and get rid of stuff) but she was getting dressed! I got her a pair of jeans out of the dryer and took the dog out to potty.
Since this is Friday, I also had to take the garbage and recycling cans to the curb. By the time I do that and the dog does her business, I come back in and K is in the Kitchen getting her cereal! When did she turn 25?! Yesterday she was 9 and crying because she didn't want to wear her new glasses to school because, 'they aren't her style anymore' and she 'can't stand to even look at herself in the mirror.' Typical pre-teen drama queen stuff. She loves her glasses now that everyone at school complimented her.
I was so proud of her this morning! Where did my daughter go and can this one stay?!
Have a great Friday and wonderful blessed weekend!
